The summer holidays are fast approaching and now is the time to start looking into booking one of the many cheap package holidays that are available online and at your local travel agents. Summer is the busiest tourist period in the Northern Hemisphere, with hundreds upon thousands of tourists converging on the hot spots in Europe -
If you’ve got your heart set on visiting one of the popular tourist destinations in the summer months it is always advisable to do as much forward planning as you can. Purchasing tickets for museums and galleries online, for instance, can help you avoid the long queues which often take hours to get through in the summer. It also pays to be well-informed about the schedules of the major monuments and attractions - Vatican City, for instance, will always be busier on the days that the Pope gives speeches or holds audiences. Other attractions, particularly the smaller galleries and gardens, may have odd opening hours or may have days where they are closed completely. Visiting attractions during the week may also seem like a good idea, but if you are holidaying just before or just after the school vacation you may find you share the gallery, museum or garden with several school trips. Bank holidays may also interrupt your plans. Knowing as much about the places you want to visit ahead of time can make all the difference, especially if you don’t like waiting in queues or having to share your holiday experience with crowds of people!
